Baltis recipe

Ex-Head Chef, Balti (Richard) has come up with this quick and easy Firefighters Chilli recipe.

Ingredients

1 lb steak mince
3 medium onions
3 green chillies
3 cloves garlic (crushed)
2 tins kidney beans (washed)
2 tins chopped tomatoes
2 teaspoons chilli powder
2 teaspoons paprika
tomato puree
seasoning

 

METHOD

Take the mince and fry dry in a pan, when it is browned drain in a colander to remove excess fat.

Dice the onions and celery and fry in the meat fat, add the two cloves of garlic, cook for 5 - 6 mins. Add chillies (diced) and cook for a further 1 min.

Put drained mince back into pan, add kidney beans and tomatoes. Mix together and add chilli powder and paprika and cook for 20 mins.

Add tomato puree to thicken and cook for a further 10 mins.

Check seasoning and thickness. Serve.
