BA Set

Here is a picture of our Breathing Apparatus. It enables firefighters to breath safely whilst in smoky or poisonous atmospheres. The average working duration of a BA set is 28 minutes at 180 bars pressure in an 1800 litre cylinder.  The warning whistle will the operate, this still leaves us a safety margin of 12mins or from 50 bar.

We also carry a torch, a small line, a knife and a radio. Click the button to hear the ba set.

For safety we have a Distress signal unit (DSU) which is the grey box located below the mask on the picture. If we need help because for example we are trapped, we can press a button and it will sound. I t will also operate if we do not move for a period of time, this is incase we are unconscious . Press this button to hear the DSU.

Below you can put your mouse over the image then press the left mouse button and move the cursor left or right to get a 3D view.
